I’ve created a simple module with which you can build a Joomla Menu based entirely on icons. It’s the same as the one I’m using at the top right of my blog.
You simply tell it how many icons you want (one to eight), what the target url is, specify a url to an icon, specify a target tag if desired (eg. _blank), and give it a description. You must also specify a divider image which appears between each icon, set the icon size, and adjust the layout with the appropriate parameters.
It’s really straight forward, self explanatory, and doesn’t do anything particularly complex, but I couldn’t find anything similar for Joomla. You can find it here.
Icons/Images are not included, though if you like the ones I’m using you’ll find them here.

I’ve made a few minor updates to my site, Apple-ifying it somewhat with the addition of iPod Touch / iPhone style calendar icons dating each post. I also wrote a new Joomla module, an icon based menu, which I’ve also Apple-ified. And finally, there’s some minor tweaking to the look of the modules on the right. All very minor stuff, but it was fun.

I’ve decided to give Tumblr a whirl. It’s one of those new fangled web apps that folk like to call Web 2.0 applications. Don’t you just hate that term, Web 2.0? Is there such a thing as Web 1.0? I mean really, like OMG, you’re still on the old internet?
Anyway, Tumblr is essentially a microblog or, as those Web 2.0 types would have you call it, a lifestream. B*gger off. Lifestream - lol. You’re meant to use it on a daily basis to make little short posts that you’d otherwise not clog up your blog with. Random thoughts, interesting links, that sort of thing. Kind of like the funwall on facebook. I’ll probably never use it. There’s a link at the top of the page to my full Tumblr feed, and there’s a module on the right displaying my recent tumbles.

I’ve decided to give my site a lick of paint, at least for a few weeks, by making use of my RocketTheme subscription and their latest theme, hivemind. To be honest, I still prefer my heavily modified version of their colormatic theme that’s skinned my blog for almost a year, but a change is as good as a post, or something like that.

My site has now moved over to MojoBlog - an enhanced itteration of JD-Wordpress. MojoBlog runs off the latest version of Wordpress, and is better featured that the original JD-Wordpress - rss feeds, pings, trackbacks, now work apparently - I’m not beardy enough to know what trackbacks and rpc pings are. All my modules have been updated to work with mojo, and are available to download.

I’m hosting a mojoblog demo site after receiving early beta code. I’ve adapted most of my modules to work with mojo - I’ll upload them later this week to the downloads section. I’m assuming they won’t need to change again - as that portion of Kevin’s code is near complete.
edit: Modules and Mambot now available to download.
edit: No longer hosting the demo. Will wait for a final build then upgrade my site.
