Rafi’s First Tooth
On the last day of 2008, Rafi’s first tooth came through. The poor little guy has been fussing for a few days, now we know why. He’s eight and a half months old, and as cute as can be.

SABNZBD+ is the ultimate nzb file downloader. It’s particularly useful in conjunction with SABNZBDX, an OSX GUI for interacting with the SABNZBD+ server. Unlike other nzb downloaders, SAB runs as a server on your Mac. It’s surprisingly easy to set up. I’d procrastinated for weeks over using it, fearing that setup would be compex.
You place nzb files in a folder of your choosing and the SAB server will automatically download, par, unrar, and organize the them for you. It even cleans up after itself. As my ISP uses traffic shaping between 10am and 9pm I was pleased to see that you can schedule SAB to pause and resume at times of your choosing. You can optionally have it poll your newzbin bookmarks, downloading anything it finds. If that’s not enough, it has powerful post processing scripting options should the basic functionality not do what you need. I’ve been using it for a few days now and am very impressed. Check it out.
I’ve been a long time user of Joomla combined with MojoBlog (a WordPress conversion for Joomla). They work well together and provide some powerful customisation options and excellent themes. However recently the only pure Joomla functionality I’ve been using has been modules. So I got to thinking, why not switch to WordPress – from a theme perspective it’s finally caught up with Joomla, and I can replace most of my Joomla modules with WordPress widgets.
So here we are in WordPress 2.7 and it’s not half bad to be honest. I was able to import all my posts from MojoBlog via an RSS feed. However any comments were left behind, which is no great loss I guess, since there weren’t very many.
We had a nice Christmas, albeit one where we were all still kinda suffering from this d*mned Flu. Santa was very nice to the kids, extra generous because they missed Eid with the Flu. I went sales shopping on Boxing Day (mostly because my 360 died completely and I had to buy another) and was amazed at how bonkers busy everywhere was – what recession? I picked up an Elite, a free copy of Gears 2, half price Far Cry 2, half price Fallout 3, half price Fifa 09, cheapish Left 4 Dead, and a very cheap used copy of GRAW 2. So all 3 of us boys have enough toys to last us another year.

A month and counting. Worst Flu Ever. I’ve even had a day in hospital. Right now though it’s Zee and Rafi who are sickest.
