New Modem

Posted on 28. Jul, 2007 by zerolight in Gadgets & Stuff

Virgin Media swapped over my modem at last. After a bit of confusion around MAC addresses it’s up and running. I’ve never been able to get over 4 or 5mb before – now I’m getting over 12mb. That’s a fair bit off the promised 20mb, but VM seem to be having some teething problems with the 20mb service at the moment, so what I’m getting is very good.

The Darkness Demos

It’s not a game I have any intention of buying, but I thought I’d download the demo on both 360 and PS3 to see how they stack up, after all, it pushes the hardware pretty hard. The result? The PS3 version had much more detailed textures, and had significantly better lighting. This was quite a surprise as I expected them to be much of a muchness. Control-wise the 360 version nudges ahead, the PS3 version’s triggers sometimes seemed to lag when firing your guns – this might just have been a problem with the demo build though. Aside from that, the famous Dual Shock dead zone wasn’t present – the PS3 game felt just as responsive as the 360 game and nowhere near as poor as Resistance: Fall of Man. Chock up a win to the PS3 then… which tends to suggest that the PS3 might end up with better versions of DiRT, PES, and GTA after all.

Ali – 2 today

Ali was 2 today. We got him a big carpark from ELC, and some more Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars. He loves the cars more than the carpark to be honest – but then he is totally car daft. We took him to Mother India’s Cafe for dinner – his favourite food is their Pakora and Chicken Tikka – then back home for cake…

Cheetah

I was browsing my flickr account when this photo popped up. Made me smile. I still can’t believe I entered the Cheetah enclosure, knelt down beside two Cheetahs, and proceeded to stroke one of them. Fastest mammal on earth? I think I’d have given it a run for it’s money had it decided it was still hungry.

MojoBlog Live

My site has now moved over to MojoBlog – an enhanced itteration of JD-WordPress. MojoBlog runs off the latest version of WordPress, and is better featured that the original JD-WordPress – rss feeds, pings, trackbacks, now work apparently – I’m not beardy enough to know what trackbacks and rpc pings are. All my modules have been updated to work with mojo, and are available to download.
